Free dietitian software: free plans, trials and a demo account

Two plans in this list are free with no end date: Practice Better Sprout, for up to 3 active clients, and Carepatron Free, with unlimited clients. The rest are trials or a demo account. Practice Better's first paid plan, Starter, is $35 a month, billed monthly, as read on October 30, 2026.

Practice Better Sprout: free for 3 clients

Practice Better calls Sprout "Free forever!". It allows up to 3 active clients and 100 MB of storage, with booking, a calendar, basic charting and session notes, one-to-one secure messaging and the mobile app. It has no built-in video visits, programs, food database or branding.

Its audience is worded two ways, students and recent grads or people just getting started, so confirm you qualify. Its pricing page and help center also disagree on whether Sprout has a public booking page and custom reminders, so check Sprout against your list.

The paid trial is separate from Sprout. It runs 14 days on a paid plan, or 30 days on Team, and the sign-up takes a card that is charged at the end unless you cancel. If you have 3 or fewer clients when it ends, you can downgrade to Sprout. The Practice Better Sprout plan page has the full list.

Carepatron Free: no client cap

Carepatron's free plan has no client cap and includes telehealth with 1 GB of storage. Plus is $39 a month, billed monthly, or $31 a month, billed yearly, and adds unlimited storage, group telehealth and scheduling. Practitioners are billed per user, and Carepatron prices by country, so these are its US figures. Its trial is 14 days with no card. Practice Better vs Carepatron sets the two side by side.

Trials with no card: Healthie, Kalix and SimplePractice

Healthie gives 14 days of its Plus plan, $129.99 a month, billed monthly, with no credit card, and its entry plan is Core at $19.99. Kalix gives one month with no card, then Standard at $27 a month, billed monthly. SimplePractice gives 30 days on Plus, $99 a month, billed monthly, with no payment information, and its entry plan is Starter at $49.

None of the three has a free plan, and each trial ends with a choice of paid plan. Jane has no free trial and offers a demo account, with Balance at $59 a month in US dollars.

When free stops being enough

Past 3 clients on Sprout you need Starter, which holds 10. Past 10 you need Professional, $69 a month, billed monthly, which holds 300. A list of 15 clients is past both Sprout and Starter, while Carepatron Free has no client cap. Bulk client import is switched off during a Practice Better trial, which matters when you are moving records in.
