Practice Better Starter costs $35 a month, billed monthly, against $49 a month, billed monthly, for SimplePractice Starter. Both prices were read on October 30, 2026. SimplePractice shows no annual billing on its pricing page, so the table compares monthly billing first.

Who each is built for: nutrition and wellness against mental health

Practice Better describes its five plans as designed for health and wellness practitioners. From Starter it adds a food database of over 600,000 foods for building client recommendations.

SimplePractice is mental-health-led: it describes its AI add-on as drafting therapy notes. A dietitian or coach fits Practice Better's food database, journals and programs; a therapist fits SimplePractice.

Practice Better's charting page names SOAP, ADIME, DAP and BIRP formats; check the template library in a trial. The AI Charting Assistant is optional and open from Starter.

SimplePractice lists group telehealth on its Plus plan. Practice Better runs group sessions through your own Zoom account, from Professional. SimplePractice also charges $20 a year per clinician for AMA CPT billing codes, a fee separate from the plan.

Trials, annual billing and card terms

SimplePractice's trial runs 30 days on Plus and needs no payment information. Practice Better's runs 14 days on Starter, Professional or Plus and 30 days on Team, and its sign-up asks for a credit card that is charged at the end unless you cancel.

Practice Better's annual prices on Professional and Plus ($62 and $89 a month) are a beta for new accounts. Annual plans are paid upfront for 12 months, and canceling does not trigger an automatic refund.

Moving from SimplePractice

SimplePractice says you get a window of around 60 days to export and download your information after you leave, so download before it closes. Practice Better publishes a guide to migrating from SimplePractice. Its Basic Migration is free and imports the active client list. Premium Migration is $500 and adds documents, labs, services and appointments. Historical payment, invoice and transaction records are not imported. • A two-dietitian practice that needs a shared calendar, notes and video: Practice Better Team is $155 a month, billed monthly, for 2 practitioners, then $50 a month for each one added. SimplePractice lists added clinicians from $74 a month each.
